I travelled up to London this week to attend the opening of the Society of Women Artists 15st Annual Exhibition at Mall Galleries. Over 350 pieces of artwork were on show, from members of the society and non-members. I was in the ‘Young Artists’ category for artists under 30 years old. The exhibition was opened by Princess Michael of Kent. It was a great show, beautifully curated with some amazing pieces of artwork to view and buy. The exhibition is on until 7th July, if you are in London, go and have a look! http://www.society-women-artists.org.uk/

I am a regular user of Twitter and have been following a guy in Coventry for a while – https://twitter.com/shoesmith81. Robert likes to do experiments and his new one involves visiting every Apple store in the UK without spending money on anything. He’s using the power of social networking to get help for his journey from people all around the UK. When he comes to the Norwich store, I am going to do a series of sketches of him there. It’s going to be really fun! I like to sit in cafes and sketch people walking past me, so this will be a new variation of that! Check out his blog, he might even be coming to a store near you! http://www.robshoesmith.com/

I’ve been drawing a figure moving where the motion is broken down and each pose drawn with a wood-burning pen (all the lines are burnt onto the white paper). As I’ve been drawing it, I’ve been taking photos every 3 or 4 figures. It’s interesting to see to see how the drawing develops, as well as the completed whole drawing.
