New work for exhibitions and competitions!

April 23, 2012 § Leave a comment

I am currently preparing work for a variety of upcoming exhibitions and competitions around the UK. The main one is the Norfolk & Norwich Open Studios, my studio will be open to the public on Sat 26th & Sun 27th May, Sat 2nd & Sun 3rd June, Sat 9th & Sun 10th June. It’ll be a great day out for anyone interested in art and brochures are out now with maps of various art trails – I am part of the Norwich Art Trail (!/groups/norwicharttrail). My studio will be filled with a variety of work, ranging from small figurative images, drawn using a quill and bright watercolour ink, drawings of figures burnt onto wood, and various sizes of drawings with figures moving around and across the page. I have a few large scale drawings to exhibit for this that I am very excited about and can’t wait to show off and see what people think of them!

Freya in green, watercolour ink on paper, 21 x 14 cm

As the sun glides through the darkness, woodburning pen on paper, 140 x 90 cm

Various figurative drawings on cross sections of wood – oak, willow and walnut

Maya, watercolour ink on paper, 21 x 14 cm

I’m very excited to find out about two drawings that I have submitted to the Norfolk Contemporary Arts Society annual exhibition, held at the Forum in Norwich:

The Song, wood-burning pen on paper, 109 x 64 cm

Memory, wood-burning pen on paper, 67 x 87 cm

Along with these exhibitions, I am also currently working on drawings for the Jerwood Drawing Prize (, the Cambridge Artworks Ltd Call for Entries exhibition (, and the John Ruskin Prize 2012 ( It’s  definitely a thrilling but busy time of year!
